Prof. Julian A. Hiscox is Chair in Infection and Global Health, in the Institute of Infection and Global Health (IGH) at the University of Liverpool. His laboratory focuses on respiratory and emerging diseases and uses high resolution approaches such as RNA sequencing and proteomics to understand how viruses interact with the host. His laboratory has been working on Ebola virus since 2012 studying the evolution of the virus and interaction of viral proteins with host cell proteins. During the 2013-2016 Ebola virus outbreak his laboratory lead the sequencing efforts for the European Mobile Laboratory. The work of his group has been published in the journal Nature and other high impact publications. His seminar will focus on studying this very dangerous virus in humans and what we learnt about Ebola virus disease during the outbreak.
Prof. Lisa FP NG is Senior Principal Investigator, Singapore Immunology Network, A*STAR, Singapore; Chair and Professor in Viral Immunity, Institute of Infection and Global Health, University of Liverpool, UK; Adjunct Professorships at Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and at Duke-NUS Graduate School of Medicine, Singapore. Her research interests focus on the diagnostic and therapy, vaccine research, and immunology of Zika virus, Chikungunya Virus and other clinically important alphaviruses. She has published 80 academic peer reviewed papers in journals including but not limiting Lancet, Nature Medicine, PloS Medicine, Lancet Infect Dis, Journal of Virology, Journal of Immunology. Now she is the Editor of Journal of Virology, Frontiers in Immunology,PLoS ONE, Microbes and Infection, Scientific Reports, Microbial Pathogenesis.
